These supplements were "Tipped In" (lightly glued) into issues until 1918 when all supplements became loose inserts. Where Pictorial Supplements were available separately, a magazine advertisement is shown here which made it available rather than the actual pictorial. April 1916 "Oldest Living Thing - General Sherman Tree" At left is the ad in the April 1916 issue for a print of this 10" x 25 3/8" supplement. At right is the ad in the 1919 Miniature for the same. Both were B/W and are presented here in simulated "Rich Green Tones" of the original Photogravure that was sent smaller (9" x 23") than the supplement. |
